A handmade, one-of-a-kind necklace will be the signature item at the Southwest Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) Live Auction Gala at the August Santa Fe Indian Market. The collaborative work is by four award-winning Native American artists. The Auction Gala, sponsored by Carolyn Pollack Jewelry, is a benefit for SWAIA, presenter of the world-renowned Indian Market held each year in Santa Fe.
The SWAIA Live Auction Gala, August 21 at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe, is one of the most sought-after tickets of Indian Market weekend. This year, the auction will conclude with an opportunity to purchase a sensational necklace created by renowned Native American designers Roderick Tenorio, Veronica Benally, tiffany Pendant, Fritz Casuse, and Cody Sanderson.
Valued at $39,000, the necklace is being donated for the benefit auction through the generosity of the four artists. The inspiration for the finely crafted necklace comes from nature and features butterflies created by each designer mixed among flowers and Native American symbols. Created from finely wrought sterling silver, gold and precious and natural gemstones, the necklace is a unique piece of handcrafted art. It is expected to generate significant interest by collectors.
The collaboration by the four designers was first suggested by Dr. Bruce Bernstein, executive director of SWAIA, and supported by Bill and Carolyn Pollack of Carolyn Pollack Jewelry. The butterfly necklace is the latest example of a recent tradition to bring a group of artists together to work on a collaborative piece of art for the annual Auction Gala. In prior years, teams of Native American artists have customized a motorcycle, a decorative box and a concha belt with their designs.
"We provided the environment where the collaboration could blossom," Carolyn Pollack said. "As longstanding supporters of SWAIA and the Presenting Sponsors of the gala auction, we wanted to offer an outstanding piece of art for the auction. This year’s collaboration was a true group effort with the four Native Designers brainstorming together and bouncing ideas off each other. I believe the depth of collaboration resulted in a truly unique, outstanding piece. There certainly is not another one like it."
Carolyn Pollack Jewelry is the presenting sponsor of this year’s gala and the award sponsor for Best in Classification for Jewelry, the top jewelry award given at Indian Market. Carolyn Pollack Jewelry’s sponsorship of the auction gala and jewelry award is part of the company’s mission to promote innovation in Native American jewelry design and to introduce a new generation of collectors to contemporary Native American artists.
"Although a collaboration, the necklace has a unique contribution from each of the designers, tiffany money clips for sale," Carolyn Pollack said. "Each of the four artists designed one of the butterflies and they each have their own style, and yet they all came together in this piece. Fans of each designer will recognize instantly the butterfly that designer created, and yet everyone’s work is integrated into the whole. It was truly a creative collaboration, and I think the end result is a stunning work of wearable art."
Through a partnership that stretches back as far as 10 years, Carolyn Pollack Jewelry licenses and manufactures designs from all four Native American designers–Tenorio, Benally, Casuse and Sanderson–and introduces their designs to millions of viewers nationwide by featuring their work on QVC(R),shop for tiffany, QVC.com,key rings, in their own retail stores, and online at www.CarolynPollack.com.
"We’re excited to see iconic American Indian jewelry of New Mexico evolve in an exciting direction and become an international sensation on television," said Dr. Bruce Bernstein, SWAIA executive director. "The collaborative piece brings attention to the four Native American designers whose success stories include the way they’ve launched successful businesses and partnered with Carolyn Pollack Jewelry to license their designs."
All four artists will have booths at Indian Market where they will have one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces inspired by the necklace available for collectors to purchase. A limited quantity of reproductions of these jewelry pieces manufactured in the company’s Albuquerque, New Mexico production facility are also scheduled to be available for purchase through QVC during a broadcast in August for customers who can’t make it to Santa Fe for Indian Market.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to interpret the artistic elements of the auction piece in manufactured reproductions available on QVC and in our retail stores," Carolyn Pollack said. "It brings the collaboration to a new level."
"Over the years we’ve developed relationships with some of the award-winning artists of Indian Market as part of our mission to evolve Native American arts, which you can see in the range of the designers we work with, from Roderick Tenorio’s more traditional styles to the contemporary works of Fritz Casuse and everything in between," said Bill Pollack. "We want to broaden the concept of what Indian jewelry is. This is not your grandmother’s squash blossom necklace but exciting new designs from acclaimed native artists."

In a blow to Indian jewelers, the US has stopped the duty-free status for gold necklaces from India as the product was found to be competitive in US markets.
Earlier, cheap tiffany key rings, US used to allow duty-free status to certain products from developing countries to help them expand their economies. Other items that have been struck off the duty-free list are passenger tyres from Thailand and wood flooring from Brazil.
After assessing which products should continue to benefit from duty-free treatment under GSP (Generalised System of Preferences), President Barack Obama determined that five products from three beneficiary countries are now sufficiently competitive in the United States.
So, duty-free treatment will be withdrawn for those products, including certain passenger tyres from Thailand, tiffany money clips clearance, wood flooring from Brazil, and gold rope necklaces from India.
In all, tiffany Pendants on sale, the US will continue to provide duty-free treatment to 110 products from 19 beneficiary countries, whose imports exceed the statutory ceilings by only a small amount.

India, July 02 — The Indian gold item which enjoyed the duty-free status till date can no more reap those benefits in the US, as Barack Obama, the US President, is of the belief that five products from three beneficiary countries under the generalized system of preferences (GSP) are adequately competitive in the US. Obama Administration’s Annual Review under the GSP program has withdrawn duty free treatment to products from different countries including certain passenger tyres from Thailand, wood flooring from Brazil apart from our gold rope necklaces. Under the GSP,shop for tiffany, certain selected products from developing countries are allowed duty-free treatment in the US which helps these developing countries to expand their economies. Currently it has around 110 products, valued at $613 million last year, from 19 beneficiary countries. These countries continue to enjoy duty-free treatment because their imports exceeded the statutory ceilings by only a small amount. The decision is set to have adverse implications on the Indian gems and jewellery industry as the prices of the rope necklace will shoot up leading to decrease in demand for the India made gold item in the US.

When faced with a medical crisis, having the ability or presence of mind to personally communicate critical health information to emergency response teams may not be possible. With invisibleBracelet.org (iB), a virtual medical ID,tiffany money clips on sale, consumers may have their vital health information readily available to emergency medical service (EMS) providers through the new ICE Public Profile and Enhanced Medic Network, helping save crucial time.
The new iB Web service offers two levels of protection. iB members may enroll for the SMS text-based 51020 ICE Public Profile that can instantly share medical conditions, medication, allergy and/or "in case of emergency" (ICE) contact details with first responders that have access to a member’s iB wallet card, ID sticker or key fob. All major U.S. mobile carriers including AT&T,tiffany rings on sale, Verizon, Sprint, tiffany clearance, T-Mobile,buy tiffany key rings, Nextel, Alltel, U.S. Cellular and Boost Mobile support the 51020 service.
The Enhanced Medic Network takes the 51020 feature to the next level of service, offering members a private profile only accessible to licensed and trained EMS providers in dozens of markets throughout the U.S. With 110 initial licensees, iB will have more than 10,000 medics trained on how to locate iB identifiers and query iB personal identification numbers (PINs) using the iB Medic Network search engine. Medics can query the PIN and get instant access to the patient-provided information about their current health conditions. If medical transport is necessary, medics can notify up to 10 ICE contacts with the push of a button by simply confirming the name of the medical facility the patient is being taken for treatment.
To use either the 51020 ICE Public Profile or the Enhanced Medic Network, the service costs $10 per member, per year.
"People are taking control of their health information in a brand new way and connecting with their family members and friends when it matters most," said Noah Roberts, tiffany cuff Links on sale, CEO, Invisible Bracelet. "With our expanding network of EMS and Emergency Department (ED) health care providers, iB is turning into a must-have resource for every American."

Once they have a membership card, an individual then returns to invisibleBracelet.org, creates an account and enters the PIN found on the iB card to create their patient profile with his/her health information. The member then adds names, email addresses, mobile and landline phone numbers for emergency contacts. The iB patient profile can then be updated at any time at no cost to keep the information current with any health or medication changes.
Members are instructed to place the iB card directly behind their driver’s license, attach a fob to their key chain or backpack and apply a sticker to their health identification card.
"When we arrive at an emergency, we are tasked with treating patients based on no information about their health history other than their current circumstances. With Invisible Bracelet, we can immediately pull up the health facts we need to know. It saves valuable time," said Matt Zvadasky, director of operations for emergency service provider MedStar in Fort Worth, Texas.
By partnering with the American Ambulance Association (AAA), iB is rapidly establishing itself as a new national standard of practice for securely identifying patients and notifying loved ones. Over the next 36 months, the AAA is working with iB to train all of its affiliated medics.
As a "HIPAA Compliant" Web service, iB meets or exceeds state and federal patient privacy and security laws. iB creates audit logs every time patient data is accessed. That way, the company can guarantee a record of when a patient’s data was viewed and by which authorized medic.

Australian kidnap victim Nigel Brennan has been praised by his fellow prisoner for helping her survive 15 months in captivity as the pair were held for ransom by Somalia gunmen.

Both have now thanked the long list of supporters, family members and agencies who worked to ensure their release and safety.
Their families hired a private hostage negotiator firm to secure their release and raised money for the ransom through donations.
Both say they are taking their recovery one day at a time.

The Litter Index divides Kansas City, Mo. neighborhoods into 34 clusters, thanksgiving key rings, and litter is measured on a scale of one to four – one indicating no litter and four indicating extreme litter and illegal dumping.

Most little girls dream of walking the runway in the latest fashions. But it takes more than just putting on pretty clothes and strolling in front of a crowd.
At the Francis Scott Key Mall, 37 "tweens" ages 9 to 12 and 22 teens ages 13 to 17 are going through a week-long fashion camp. Two former models who have a consulting and training firm teach the girls how to walk, tiffany pendants, talk and dress.
Vicki Tamburo and Tracy Gargon of Dress to Impress LLC are working with the girls on healthy eating, manners, self confidence and other life skills. At 1 p.m. Saturday at Center Court at the mall, the 59 models will show the latest fashions and accessories from mall shops.
"For years we did a Style Squad once a month," said Christina Steinbrenner, group marketing director for the mall.
In that program, teens could come to the mall, be trained in modeling and see the latest fashions.
"It was hard for everyone to set the time and everything once a month, so we decided on the week-long camp," she said. "We also added the younger girls, previously it was just teens."
So far, the program has brought rave reviews from parents and store owners. The girls have learned manners, confidence and respect, which has impressed the parents and shopkeepers. They get a T-shirt and a backpack for taking part.
"Vicki and Tracy get to know every girl by name, tiffany key rings," Steinbrenner said. "They pick out the clothes the girls will wear. Sometimes the girls will say they wouldn’t have chosen those particular clothes, but once they put them on and practice for the show, they change their minds."
Steinbrenner said the fashion camp is so popular, dozens of girls had to be turned away. The cap is set at 60 participants.
Camp participants will do another fashion show next spring and could be asked to volunteer for Halloween and Christmas events at the mall, such as the arrival of Santa Claus.
"They are our mall ambassadors," Steinbrenner said of the girls. "They are the next generation of shoppers."

New research, tiffany money clips, ‘Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans in the breast of a 2-year-old girl,’ is the subject of a report (see also <http://www.newsrx.com/library/topics/Dermatofibrosarcoma.html> Dermatofibrosarcoma). According to recent research from the United States, "Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a low-grade dermal and subcutaneous spindle cell neoplasm that most commonly occurs in the extremities and trunk of adults. It is rare in children and infants, and only few cases are reported as congenital."
"A 2-year-old girl presented with a rapidly enlarging left breast mass. The histology of the excised mass revealed a moderately cellular spindle cell tumor with large hypercellular fibrosarcoma-like areas, few myxoid areas, tiffany necklaces, and other areas with multinucleated giant cells. By immunohistochemistry, the tumor cells were focally positive for CD34 and were negative in the fibrosarcomatous areas. The diagnosis of DFSP was confirmed by demonstrating an unbalanced translocation der(22)t(17;22)(q21.3;q13.1) by conventional cytogenetic and fluorescence in situ hybridization analyses. Positive immunoreactivity with PDGFR-beta antibody indicated constitutional activation of PDGF receptor and provided an alternate indirect method of confirming the presence of dysregulated PDGF gene involved in this translocation. Although DFSP has been described in the adult female breast, this is the first such case in the breast of a 2-year-old girl. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans should be considered in the differential diagnosis of subcutaneous/dermal spindle cell tumors in children regardless of the site. CD 34 immunostaining should not be relied on, as it may be negative in fibrosarcomatous areas,Charm bracelet," wrote A.A. Ahmed and colleagues, Children’s Mercy Hospital.
The researchers concluded: "Confirmation of the diagnosis in unusual sites requires identification of the characteristic t(17;22) chromosomal translocation."

According to a study from the United States, "Immunoglobulin (Ig) A deficiency has long been recognized in patients with chromosome 18 abnormalities (see also <http://www.newsrx.com/library/topics/IgA-Deficiency.html> IgA Deficiency). We present the case of a young girl in whom a chromosome 18p deletion syndrome (46,tiffany money clips,XX,discount tiffany,del[18][p11.1]) was associated not only with IgA deficiency, but also with an inability to make antibody to the unconjugated pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine, Pneumovax II, indicating a concomitant specific polysaccharide antibody deficiency."
"The patient suffered from recurrent upper respiratory tract and genitourinary infections, which were controlled by the use of prophylactic antibiotics. The association of specific polysaccharide antibody deficiency, tiffany key rings, IgA deficiency, and chromosome 18p deletion syndrome has not been described previously, and extends the immunological phenotype of antibody deficiencies associated with defects of chromosome 18," wrote M.C. Caillaud and colleagues, Ithaca College.
The researchers concluded: "The presence of specific polysaccharide antibody deficiency should be investigated in patients with chromosome 18 abnormalities, as these patients may have a more severe spectrum of infections than patients with chromosome 18 abnormalities and selective IgA deficiency alone."
Caillaud and colleagues published the results of their research in the Journal of Insect Science (Genetics of color polymorphism in the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum. Journal of Insect Science, 2010;10():95).

Larimar is the buzzword in the gem and mineral world right now.,tiffany pendants
"Larimar comes from one square mile on one island in the Caribbean," said Van Wimmer,Charm bracelet, director of Treasures of the Earth gem and mineral shows.
"It is extremely rare and extremely expensive because it is found only in one place. I pay $540 per pound for a piece of it. To give you a comparison, Sleeping Beauty turquoise (rare, high-quality material) is $125 to $250 a pound."
Folks who haven’t seen the rare blue Larimar stone can do so this weekend at the 19th annual North Georgia Bead, Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show.
The gem show opens today in Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center, continuing through Sunday afternoon. Twenty-five vendors from across the country will showcase everything from rare gemstones to stone beads, amber and fossils.
"We try to keep bead dealers who only deal in first-quality beads," said the show director. "Mei Leung of Canton Collectibles’ beads are made of real stone, and she also has high-quality pearls from China."
Wimmer said there will be gold and silversmiths on-site, along with wire-wrap and wire-sculpture artists.
"A common occurrence at these shows is that customers will come in, pick stones and settings that can be put together on the spot. Visitors can bring pieces for repair or bring in stones and choose a new mount for them," said Wimmer, who adds the repairs are made only in real metals.
The show director said the $3 ticket permits admission throughout the three-day event to allow time for custom pieces to be made; the customer avoids a second admission when returning to pick up the completed piece.
Wimmer said vendors are happy to verify stones or metals used in customers’ jewelry pieces brought to the show and will give estimates of approximate prices but not appraisals.
"A true appraisal takes from a half to full day and requires taking stones out of the mount," he said.
He said no selling is allowed by anyone other than the 25 paying vendors.
"Our show dealers do not buy scrap gold or other metals including old jewelry or gemstones. That’s illegal now," he said.
"Our specialty is helping people get custom-made jewelry or jewelry repair. We have jewelry makers, tiffany money clips, goldsmiths and silversmiths from all over the U.S. who can reconstruct, repair, design or make original jewelry from customer-selected gems, stones, tiffany rings, opals and crystals," Wimmer said.
